Mayor and Council Election Information

The position of Mayor and three City Council positions will be on the November 3, 2020 General Election ballot.  The City Council positions are four-year terms and the Mayor serves a two-year term.  The candidate filing timelines are from July 13, 2020 through 5 p.m. on July 31, 2020.

To be qualified for candidacy, you must be a qualified elector, residing within the ward (Councilor positions), have resided in the City of Lebanon for 6 months immediately preceding the election on November 3, 2020, and are not an immediate family member of a city employee or seated elected officer.

Candidates can file by paying a $25 fee or file by petition (SEL121) that is signed by at least 25 active registered voters residing within the appropriate ward.  SEL 121 Candidate Signature Sheets must be approved by the City Recorder before circulating.  After you have collected at least 25 signatures, you must submit the Signature Sheets to Linn County Elections so the signatures can be verified. 

The deadline on which to pay by fee or file completed paperwork is no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2020.
